ABIX via COMTEX) -- Nielsen NetRatings has a report available on Internet banking. The report places the Commonwealth Bank of Australia at the helm of the Internet banking industry in Australia but warns that Westpac Banking Corporation is not far behind. The spokesperson for the National Australia Bank, Virginia Wallace, says that the bank will launch a new Internet technology program in November 2001. There was a 27% increase in Internet users in Australia to 5.6 million for the six months ending 30 June 2001. The financial institutions in Australia access more Internet users than their counterparts in the UK or the US.
