Fed: PM popularity back up according to new survey
The latest Newspoll shows Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD'S popularity is on the up as theCoalition opens up a commanding lead over Labor.
The government has 44 per cent voter support, marginally ahead of its primary voteat last November's election, while the ALP had 38 per cent support.
In the preferred prime minister stakes, Mr HOWARD scored 57 per cent while OppositionLeader SIMON CREAN only managed 22 per cent and 21 per cent of respondents remain uncommitted.
The poll published in The Australian shows satisfaction with Mr CREAN'S performanceincreased four per cent on a fortnight ago, to 35 per cent, while those dissatisfied droppedone per cent to 42 per cent.
Mr HOWARD satisfied 55 per cent of voters, while 34 per cent gave him the thumbs down.
