Vic: End in sight for ACI dispute
An 18-week lockout of workers at a Melbourne glass company could end today if the Australian
Manufacturing Workers Union accepts a company offer.
The 81 workers from ACI Mould Manufacturing at Box Hill were stood down on Christmas
Eve after they started industrial action during negotiations for a new enterprise bargaining
agreement.
The union's state secretary JULIUS ROE says the offer, negotiated at the weekend, addresses
a key sticking point about the allocation of shifts.
He has also hit out at the federal government's industrial laws, which he says exacerbated
the dispute.
Mr ROE says the dispute centres on the protection of working conditions, not increased pay.
