Qld: Man burned after ride-on mower explosion
A man's suffered severe burns to his legs and arms when a ride-on mower he was fixingexploded on the Gold Coast hinterland.
The 49-year-old man suffered severe burns to up to 30 per cent of his body -- includingto his legs, arms and abdomen -- after the mower he was repairing exploded about 9.30am(AEST) today.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman says bystanders managed to douse the flamesby dipping the injured man in a nearby river.
Two ambulance crews, including an intensive care unit, were called to the scene.
An RACQ Care Flight helicopter has transferred the man to the Royal Brisbane Hospital'sburns unit for further treatment.
